FAQ

  • What size plant pots can each Airium hold?
Each Airium has been designed to hold pots ranging from 4 inch diameter, up to 10 inch diameter - as long as the pot has the all-important ‘lip’.
  • Can the Airium hold any type of plant pot?
No. The Airium works specifically with any pot that has ‘a lip’ or rim around the top. 1. The lip creates a small surface area that rests on the hook of the Airium and holds it safely in place. 2. Plant pots with a lip should also have a ridge on the inside of the pot, allowing the pot to hang straight. 3. For more clarity, see the pictures of our pots
  • Can the Airium be used outdoors?
Absolutely! We chose Neem wood that is varnished, and will offer protection from all weather conditions for about 5 years. Our MDF Airiums are made of exterior grade MDF and coated with high quality paint that offers protection against moisture. The MDF Airiums work best indoors, but could be used outdoors, and we recommend it to be hung in a sheltered outdoor space, rather than having full exposure to the elements.
  • Is it ok for the Airium to get wet when in use?
Yes. Our materials and finishing coats have all been specifically chosen to withstand moisture. However, we do recommend wiping off excess moisture to prevent staining or changing the color.
  • How do I keep my Airium clean?
Using a damp cloth, simply wipe the dust or dirt from the face of your Airium. Do NOT use any abrasive chemical or material to clean the surface of your Airiums. There’s no need to worry about the part of the Airium that comes in contact with soil - they are water resistant. In the MDF Airium, as long as there no cracks in the part embedded in the soil, the hanger will not be compromised by the moisture from the soil.
  • How do you maintain the Airium in the long term?
Over the years the outer coat of the Airium will gradually lose its effectiveness to repel water - we recommend reapplying a coat of varnish to the neem wood, or external grade waterproof paint to the MDF Airium every 5-6 years, or when obvious wear becomes visible.
  • How much weight can the Airium hold?
The 4 pot Airium can hold approximately 20kgs. The 2 pot Airium can hold approximately 10kgs. Care should be given to the hook that holds the Airium in place, as this will be carrying all of the weight. We recommend stainless steel hooks that are especially strong and do not bend easily to hang your Airium.
  • Can the Airium be used indoors?
Absolutely! All of our Airiums look great when hung inside the home, office or commercial space.
  • How do I water the plants hanging in my Airium?
    1. Simply remove each planter pot from the Airium, and water your plants in a place of your choosing. 2. Return the planter to the hanger once the water has stopped leaking. 3. In case your plant is in a plastic pot that is placed inside our pot hanging in the Airium, leave the pots as is, remove the plastic pot from inside to water & put them back once dry. 4. For a more detailed guide, check out our “How to” video here.
  • Is it safe to leave the Airium unbalanced?
It is perfectly safe to leave your Airium unbalanced for a short period. When watering your plants, it is necessary to remove each pot one at a time - this will leave the Airium unbalanced momentarily, however the pots are safe and secure (provided they have the ‘lip’ and have been installed correctly).
  • How do I install the Airium?
In order to be completely secure, we recommend hanging the Airium with a stainless steel hook that will not bend, preferably on a secure ceiling hook, bracket or off a secure railing or surface. As long as all of the plant pots you intend to use in your Airium have the all-important ‘lip’, installation is quick, simple and intuitive. Angle your pot so that it can be placed in the gap of ‘the hook’ on the Airium. Return your pot to an upright angle and let it sit comfortably, resting on the ‘lip’ of the plant pot.
  • Where in my space do I hang the Airium?
You can place your Airium in any space in your home where it can hang safely and securely. We have found curtain rods, rails and pelmets to be useful for existing hanging space. The Airium also looks great hanging from a shelf or bracket, or simply install a strong hook from an overhanging space or ceiling. Always ensure that wherever you choose to hang your Airium, the surface is strong enough to hold significant weight.
